Harvest Children’s Center is located in Kibilira, Rwanda. This is a beautiful country, but it has been devastated by the genocide of 1994.
Over 1,000,000 people were massacred during those years. At that time, Rev. Leo Rucibiango was living in Uganda when God placed a burden upon his heart to do something for his birth country, Rwanda. When the capital city was captured, he went there to help people who were in need. While there, Reverend Leo couldn’t help but be touched by the children.
When he was visiting the Kibilira village, he found many helpless children who had lost both parents and others who had only one but were living in extreme poverty.
The school began with 150 children with ages ranging between four and twelve years. They held classes in a small building owned by local authorities. The school offered education, food, medical care and clothing.
Today, Harvest Children’s Center has its own buildings with qualified teachers that are passionate about the children’s future. Every year, the school continues to bring children who have known nothing but poverty and gives them a place where they find hope and a new family.
